Zizira is making an organic choice for you! At Zizira, we are always exploring, researching, and bringing out insights on how indigenous farmers of Meghalaya are using traditional methods of farming without the use of any fertilizers and pesticides.

Organic farming methods are being promoted big time by the Government of Meghalaya. The Chief Minister of the State of Meghalaya, Dr. Mukul Sangma, launched a new initiative called ‘Mission Organic’ in January 2015.

On a recent visit to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research in Meghalaya, our group was told that Northeast India is organic by default. This means most small farms have never used pesticides or fertilizers. Farmers are still using traditional methods of farming. Old fashioned farming has become a strength. They now have a big advantage because this naturally ascribes the land as the best organic farming region.
